    Default EZ Pages & Integration

    I guess I really have 2 questions . . .

    1. Can someone provide a link to a site using EZ Pages, I've read the help manual and for whatever reason I'm just not following it. I hate to seem like a dolt but I'm just not following. Maybe if I see it in action it'll make more sense.

    2. I do a lot of design work and I enjoy it. My problem is I'm not that great at PHP (though I know a LOT more now than when I first started using Zen Cart) so when I try to think about integrating some of the designs I do with ZenCart my brain goes into spasms or something. I have clients who are wanting my 'flashy' design skills and the functionality of a cart that in my opinion on Zen can provide. Is it just a trial and error thing or am I missing something and making it WAY too complicated?

    1. link as requested
    2. It's not really a trial and error thing. It's a problem solving thing. I produce a design independently of Zen Cart, i.e. one that's right for the client's needs, and then look to see which parts of Zen Cart can be used to deliver each aspect of the design, and whether I will need to modify existing ones or create new ones.

Thank you for the link; i'll play with it and see what I can figure out.

I was hoping you would tell me I was doing something wrong and it was not as hard as I was making it, LOL

    Thank you!

I can tell you that EZ-Pages live up to their name, but can't be more specific about what you are doing wrong as you haven't actually said what you are doing or what the problem is.

Oh no you answered my question. I'm not having a specific problem per say, I was just having a bit of a time wrapping my head around the 'concept' of ez pages and integrating my design skills with the php functions.

You more than answered my question, it wasn't a specific problem that I was having . . . more of a 'conceptual' issue . . .

Ah. I see. I misinterpreted your response. Apologies.

EZ-Pages are certainly worth getting to grips with. They can be used for a wide variety of different uses: extra pages, FAQs, custom menus, etc.

They have three drawbacks: They are monolingual, EZ-Pages don't appear in the sitemap, there's less CSS control than I would like - but, in true Zen Cart fashion, there are add-ons to deal with all three of these issues.

There's also an EZ-Pages section in the FAQ if you haven't already found it, and of course lots of help here.

    Best of luck.

Thank you again Kuroi, I have learned so much today about integration just from trying to answer other peoples questions. I've found the FireFox developer tool bar to be invaluable, plus the ability to edit the css on the fly, it's all good. Thank you again for your encouragement.
