Okay ... then don't use Express Checkout.
You'll have to use the IPN module.
Be sure to configure PDT as described in the May 10 patch instructions (same link as earlier). You should get order updates right away.

Also, use this tool to check whether PayPal can talk to your site. If it cannot, you'll not get eCheck clearance notices.
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65680
In fact, this may be the very reason why you were encountering problems in the first place ... I'm guessing this tool will tell you there's a failure in connecting to PayPal.

It's too bad your host doesn't support SSL or CURL. I don't think I'd be planning to run a busy ecommerce site on such a host.

Nevertheless, using the patched module, you should be able to make PayPal purchases fine now.

(The SSL errors you reported above relate to fsockopen() requesting SSL support, not the ability to serve https:// content from your website.)

The ##############s they say it had SSL
Its an 8,95 Euro/a Month hosting

    EDIT:
I used an translater to show wat they say about there SSL Support

Ssl-Service SSL (precise Socket Layer) are a Internet protocol for data on your Internet site which "afluisterproof" must be sent (for example personal details such as creditcardgegevens, guard words, addresses, bank account numbers). The files which must be called by means of "https" or SSL versleuteld, are usually stored like within your web space. By introduce of the URL such as: https://www.ssl url.net/uwstratodomein.eu or https://www.ssl url.net/uwstratodomein.com are stored in the web space the files versleuteld sent. (instead of "uwstratodomein" you conduct your own field name in) If complete directory must become versleuteld, must be itself resistant the index.htm or index.html in these directory. Want you send a specific document versleuteld, find that by means of: https://www.ssl url.net/uwstratodomein.eu/paginanaam.html (instead of "uwstratodomein" you conduct your own field name in and instead of "html" the correct bestandsextensie) Important: The use of relative left is definitely recommended, because the visitor gets differently the report that there unsafe elements is charged. The versleuteling of data generally recognise you from name "https" at the beginning of the internet address and from a lock - or key pictogram that in the browser window is reflected.

They probably have SSL support for serving https:// pages, but don't offer it as part of fsockopen() services used to communicate with other servers, such as PayPal (instead of CURL).

help question Re: My PAypal doesnt work

    Dr. Byte,

I have ZC v1.3.7, with the latest patch of the PPEC.
    Followed your instructions
    1. removed the module
    2. uploaded the files
    3. installed the module
    4. re-entered the values
And tried it again. but nada...
    I looked at your post,
    How it Works
Once the customer (logged in or not) has something in their cart, the Express Checkout button will show on the Shopping Cart page just below the regular Checkout button. Clicking that button begins the Express Checkout process, taking them to PayPal to choose their funding source and shipping address. Then they are returned to your site to complete checkout.
and none of what you indicate is actually happening. There is no Express Checkout button under the regular button.
Another words the regular button is the only button and one is forced to login.

Is there something I might have missed?

Merlin is the Wizard!! Thank you.

With a little guidance from Merlin, I was able to piece together what the problem was.

A while back I took a stab at PayPal by trying the Google checkout module. After Google drove me crazy (I don't like being driven crazy), I abandoned that effort and disabled the module.

However, the mod required that TPL_LOGIN_... and TPL_SHOPPING_CART ... be overidden in the template.

After installing the PPEC by Dr.Byte, these same PHP files went to ../templates/template_default/templates and as such were never seen by the cart due to the overridden files.

And so, I prefixed both files in my custom template with zzz_ to hide them, and viola!! the orange button appeared and all else exposed itself to the world.

Should, I attempt to resurrect the Google check out again, we'll have to deal with the mutual exclusivity issue so that the common modules are compatible with both Google and PP.

Has anyone tampered with that yet?
