    Default PayPal Check out

Hi people. I'm new to Zen-Cart and have spent the better part of a month setting up my associations store page and was very pleased with the results. Then I tested an order paid through the standard paypal payment only to discover none of the products descriptions or quantities are being passed to paypal. I can order 5 items, but only the quantity of one and the total value of the order shows on paypal. What's up with that?
I have read post after post, done search after search and found no resolve to this issue though there were some other comments on this restriction.
Does someone have a fix for this or can those people in developement please code zen checkout to send send this info to paypal so it shows on the paypal statement?
    Thanks

    Rooster-

The standard PayPal module does not need to send the itemized details to PayPal because your customer does get an itemized confirmation from Zen Cart when you have the IPN and return set up properly.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Yes I realize that Zen-Cart sends a confirmation of order to the customer, but I require this feature. I am accountable to 27,000 members world wide and everything needs to be recorded like the government in triplicate. We not only use PayPal as a means of payment but also a record of purchases. Without a means of passing item details on to paypal purchase, which by the way is our only means of payment, we do not offer any other payment plans, Zen-Cart though a great utility, is useless to me.

1.3.7 uses paypal express which does in most cases send an itemized bill,

dont know if I would want 27000 people in my paypal account though,

wouldnt it be easier to send a copy of the itemized bill sent through zen cart to a distrobution email address

Merlin, what's the difference between 27,000 in Paypal or 27,000 in Zen-Cart?
I've read many of your posts and till now they have made sense.
For the past seven years paypal has done a fine job recording and notifyng me and our members of their purchases. I was looking for a better front end to our stores which I thought Zen-Cart would offer. But like I say if it can't do what I want, which is simple in nature, all the fancy work is for naut.
I'm not looking for something that sends details in most cases. How would you like Zen-Cart to record most of your orders and only notify most of your customers?

Perhaps someone with more knowledge and a solution can reply here?

    Thanks

I wasnt being rude, I was merely saying that it would be just as easy to use the extra admin email for orders and send it to a broadcast email

and the other was to use paypal express because it does send a detailed invoice to paypal,

I was trying to offer you 2 viable solutions that would both fit your needs,

Im trying to see the login here,

IF you send the extra order email to a broadcast email then ALL PARTIES get the email,

and if you use paypal EXPRESS then all users can login to the paypal account and see the same thing,

2 completely different methods to do EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT

Not when one considers that PayPal is a much more secure server. I have disabled members required registration in Zen-Cart so that no information is retained in the unsecure database that requires lots of coding to secure.

This way they fill out the paypal shoping cart and pay with their paypal account.

Hello, Bionic Rooster have you found a fix to the Paypal item quantities problem? I to am having the same problem I did a test checkout through the Paypal checkout page and it combines all the quantities into 1qty so I don't know how many of a particular item has sold.

Did you find a fix for this.

    Thank you

Yeah I know I can see the orders in the Zen-Cart history but that was not my question.

When you carry almost 200 items with quantities totaling over a thousand and a customer with multiple contents in their shopping cart checks out through the Paypal payment gateway and sees that the contents in their shopping cart have been combined it is confusing to them. We tested it out with a 15 beta testers and they did not go through with the Paypal payment becuase the contents in their shopping carts did not show the right quantities. Most of them went back to the original site to make sure they added items in their cart correctly but then reached the Paypal payment gateway and their quantities were combined again.

It's alright for me and my employees since we can see the order details in the Admin but when a customer is ready to checkout through Paypal it is confusing when all like items are combined to show as 1qty in their shopping cart. This will make customers confused and most likely make them not go through the checkout.
