SQL Dropping Data - description only

I have had this occur on at least 4 occaissions and I have not noticed any pattern as to why it happens.

I enter new products into the ZC shop. test it. All OK. Some time later between 1 day to several weeks, all of the product description is dropped except for the first line. All other product info is there such as model, image, price, qty, title and even the first line that I have entered into the description usually "<b>product name</b><br>".

This does not affect all products just recently added. ie usually what ever was added in the last session of adding new products, however this time it has dropped info from the last 2 times that I added new products.

I thought it might have been MySQL backups or something but then I would lose everything including title, price etc.


Hope someone can give me some ideas on this cause it is way over my head.

I am using:

• ZC 1.3.02 as per the info page although I would have sworn that I was using 1.3.6.
• PHP 5.1.6
• Zend Engine 2.1.0
• Server OS: Linux 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp
• DB: MySQL 5.0.27-standard
• Apache 1.3.37

Have you made any changes to the admin files that create/edit products?

What about the tables where they are stored--starts with `products` if you don't have a prefix--did you modify them at all?

I don't believe I have made any changes to the create/edit pages.

None of the DB tables have a prefix and I have not made any manual changes. I have installed about 15 mods that have of course added some tables etc.

I don't know a lot about these things but seeing as the data is entered and stored correctly and then an indeterminate time later one db field is changed (not dropped completely) only for the specific products that were last updated I would not think this is related to files but rather DB.

But love to hear any ideas on it. I will shortly be upgrading to 1.3.7 which will hopefully fix it but am still curios/worried about what is happening. Even more so now as no one else seems to have had the same experience.

Whatever the cause, I can assure you that it's not a completely random mystery. What are the contribs you installed? Make sure that none of them interfere with your products at all.

What are you doing immediately before you discover the borked product data? Run through each of your usual practices, checking the products between each one.
