1 attribute for download and 1 for ship to customer

i have been looking for a way to have a choice of download, and purchase a CD and ship to a customer, i got the download down pat, does anyone have an idea where or if this kind of question was asked, I have looked all over..

On the Attributes you can add weight ...

Let's say you want a CD and Download, so you make your Option Name such as:
Media Type

And Option Values:
Download
CD

When you add the Attributes you would set the:
Option Name: Media Type
Option Value: Download
filename info etc.
Default Yes

Option Name: Media Type
Option Value: CD
Attribute weight: 1.5 (or whatever)
Default NO

Now when selected for Download, there is no weight

And, when selected as CD there is weight for shipping

NOTE: a good idea for when there is a choice like this to prevent errors is to have an extra Option Value such as:
Pick your Media Type

Make that one the Default and Display Only ...

This forces the customer to make a "correct" choice and not get the wrong Media Type by just hitting Add to Cart ...

NOTE: Be sure to understand that Downloads are NOT Virtual Products ... marking them as such will give odd results ... Downloads automatically detect when they are "Virtual" by the filename on the Attribute so don't double mark it ...

will give it a try and let you know, yes i have been reading about Virtual and mine is set to that, I think i will start it all over again, and delete what i have lol thanks

You don't have to delete what you have ...

You could just unset that on your Downloads ...

If all of your Products need to be unset from being Virtual Products you could run in the Tools ... Insert SQL Patches:

UPDATE products SET products_virtual = 0; 

NOTE: this will mark ALL Products as being:

Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required

And Downloads will know that they do not need to be shipped automatically ...

I did a test with paypal and no problem, sent my self some cash,,opps should do a refund, i'm sure that is a no no.....

another question, where it says Payment Method PayPal IPN. would like to change that maybe to say that the customer does not have to register with pay pal when using a credit card, I saw the post from someone, but it was not answered on how it's done. where exactly to find the file
