Item disappear after out of stock in certain catagory only

Is it possible to make out of stock items in only a certain catagory disappear from the list of items ? I have a "preorder" section, they are marked by the persons name, after they purchase the item, it turns to "out of stock" I would like it to disappear from the "preoder" catagory. So no one else can see it. Currently I am going into the products listing in the admin section and turning that item "off". Just thought there may be a feature Im missing that would do this automatically.

You could customize the order class around lines 693 to 718 to behave differently and look at the product master_categories_id and if that is the categories_id for these pre-ordered you can move to another categories_id and/or set the products_status to 0 so that it goes out of inventory ...
