Stylesheet changes not applying!?!

Hi,

I'm new to Zen Cart so hopefully there is a really obviously solution to my problem.

I've followed all the guidelines for creating my own template, created all the necessary folders within my template directory (css, images, common, templates) but no matter what I do NONE of the changes i make to the stylesheet.css file show up. even something as simple as body background colour or default font. nothing is happening.

i even got desperate and tried changing the stylesheet.css file in the default template folder and classic template folder, it made no difference!

I tried messing with permissions but again, nothing.

I'm on a Linux server and using latest version of zencart 1.3.7.

Any ideas whats going on?

Did you go to ADMIN>TOOLS>TEMPLATE SELECTION and selected your template?

Hi

yes i've done that. and when using the firefox developer tool its clear that my template is the active one. its just that nothing in the stylesheet.css file is showing up...

one thing, dont know if its relevant, when using the developer tool on the store's homepage, if i go to VIEW CSS, it would usually open a page with the css file details listed, but at the moment i just get this error:

little update... i don't think ANY templates are working... not just the one i've created. they are successfully applied in tools > admin > template selection, but they all have white backgrounds and times new roman text...

something must be wrong more generally? but the templates ARE active, because if i add lines of text e.g. "testing testing" to the tpl_header.php file in my template, it DOES appear. so the template is active but with no styling whatsoever... classic contemporary green looks identical to my own template in terms of styling...

any ideas?

this is with a completely fresh install. i just re did it in the last 30 minutes so absolutely everything is clean and unedited. is this how classic contemporary green template looks on everybody's new installs?...

No - it's not picking up the stylesheet. Check that it exists in includes/templates/template_default/css.

Check file permissions set as required by the installation instructions.

Hope that if this doesn't help, someone else comes along as it's 1am here and past my bedtime!

yep they are definitely in the correct folder. this is so strange.. a brand new installation of zen cart and its not picking up the style sheet? i just dont get it (permissions are correct I believe. i set the things outlined in installation to 777, the rest i left alone as they are set to read for "world" so should be fine. directories are 701 and files 604. its not identical to what the zen cart installation instructions suggest but should work the same for visitors...

so something else is going on, and i don't think i stand a chance guessing myself!

just thought of one more thing i could mention in case it helps anybody help me: could this be anything to do with the mySQL database? i don't know much abotu them so haven't set it up much but it is definitely fucntioning (i logged in with phpmyadmin and could see all of the zencart created tables...).

i honestly can't imagine what else could be stopping zen cart picking up the default stylesheet.css file? i have touched nothing!!

The only way i can make it look right is by copying the entire contents of stylesheet.css directly into one of the template files (e.g. tpl_mainpage.php) between standard <style> and </style> style tags. This allows me to see what the site should look like, but it cannot pick up the stylesheet.css file on its own?

please help anybody, bed time for me now though...!

I attempted to access your style sheet and got a 500 internal error.
Make sure you've set up your configure.php files correctly.

Without more information, it would be irresponsible of me to answer you.
