Default Installing Zen Cart on a Local Computer

    Hi there

I need help in installing Zen Cart on my computer because I would like to manipulate the cart offline.

Please tell me if I have done this right:
    1. I have a hosting with streamline.net, Linux, I installed Zen-Cart properly, that's great.
    2. I would like to do Zen-Cart offline to make modification easier. OK
    3. My PC is running Windows Vista
    4. I installed Apache 2.2 in my C:/ - installed successfully
    5. I installed the latest PHP - successful
    6. Installed phpmyAdmin in Apache2.2/htdocs - installed successfully
    7. I installed mySQL same dir, installed OK

When I try running the Zen Cart, it said in the installation My SQL is turned off, which is why I couldn't install zen cart locally. I want to create a database locally, but I don not know how.

    Pleaser help

Would somebody tell me how to go through with it? I don't know if I'm doing the right thing... just following some reading from somewhere.

    Thanks.

You would have been better off just installing Wamp5. It's got EVERYTHING already included in one setup. But you can create a local database by going into phpMyAdmin, and you will see an entry box for "Create A New Data Base". Just type in the name you would like (store, shop, etc.). Click the "Create" button. Then go back to your ZC installation, and it will do the rest.
    Hope this helps.

    asianrose,

Can you or do you synch your local Zen with a remote server? We need a POS that is portable yet can synch back with our Internet database. I'm tired of fighting dodgy internet connections at shows.
