Magically Changing Categories

Hello folks,
Okay here is my situation...

in both IE and Mozilla

when browsing the catalog as a customer

Started in Home :: Other Items :: Figurines

I click on an item and go to its page

It shows Home :: Other Items :: Figurines :: Wizard on glass but the category image is for Gothic (a different category it is linked to)

From time to time it will change the left category menu to show that I am now in Themes - Gothic

This is inconvienent since now the user/browser/shopper must reclick through the category menus to get back to were they were, unless they just use the browser back button (which I have watched people and they do not use browser buttons often )

Any ideas as to why this happening in a plain vanilla install? Or better yet how to fix it. I thought maybe I had a setting wrong for the store but I can not find any setting that deals with this.

I had that problem at first... Not really sure what I did to fix it.

If I clicked on an item in a category it was only linked to it would always switch where I was to the master category for that item.

I now have ALL my items have one master category (and listed it as all products) and turned off the built-in all products, and then just link things from there. Maybe that is what fixed it?

It's been a while since this post but I am not familar with how to use this forum and this is a problem I am also having.

Master Categories ID keeps magically resetting to one of the linked categories. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Master Categories ID keeps magically resetting to one of the linked categories. Anyone know what the problem could be?

See previous post above. Also, I did the reset in Multiple Categories Link Manager to reset the Master ID in one of the categories. It shows right Master ID now in the Multiple Categories Link Manager but the site still shows it as the Linked category.

Want "After Five" category to be the master again. It's linked to "Short". After the global category reset it still says "Short" on the product page.
