    Default Cant Upload Images [maufacturer/products/etc]

Im posting this in the hope that someone else has had the same problem and managed to resolve it.

I am unable to add images to anything that will allow images added.

Whenever I try to add an images to something i get

    The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

I can add a product or manufacturer fine as long as i dont include an image, but as soon as I try to add an image and update the page it does not preview and gives that error message.

I was getting this problem with zen cart running as a xoops module and now im still getting it when I run zen as a standalone site.

    Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

All folder permissions are correctly set up.

Speak to your host. Even though it looks like all folder permissions are setup correctly they still have to give the "Guest Web User" account write permission to the folders.

You can create manufacturers and stock items on their own because this only writes info to the database. When you link a picture to it, the web front-end needs to upload a file to your wespace and this is not allowed. Once they correct the permission settings all will work again.

Try uploading a really, really small image with one of your products. I bet that there is a short execution timeout on the server and either PHP or Apache isn't getting enough time to process any large image. The hosting company is probably trying to squeeze too much power out of one machine. If you can upload a small image fine, then it is probably some resource limiting that the hosting company is doing, if you can't get them to change it for you you might need to switch.

This is just a hunch, another avenue to check. It really sounds like something isn't getting enough time to run from your error messages about the connection getting reset.

The correct place to ask for information is by opening a thread of your own on this forum. It is unlikely that people are going to PM you without knowing what help you need.

If the original poster is still looking for an answer to their problem - I have known situations where certain hosts have disabled the Image Upload function in PHP, so ask them directly about this.

I've spoken to the host but haven't got a reply yet, other than to say they are investigating it.

I can upload images fine with ftp so I can add product images by just giving zen the filename, but the problem is also happening with a file management script which is unrelated to zen, so its looking more and more like the host is restricting something.

I'll keep badgering them until they either fix it or get a restraining order

    Thanks for all the replies.
