    Default Send Email only works to Administrator?

    Hey everyone,

    I have a client who can't send emails through the Tools > Send Email

    to anyone except the Administrator!

    everyone else says: sent (0)

    but if I send to administrator it says sent (1) and it works...

    any ideas???

    for info: I'm using sendmail. tried all options. didn't make a difference.

    I'm baffled.

    All of the email settings?

    I think that should be it!

    Turns out, its not the admin that works...It was just him sending to himself as the customer. But I've tried sending to myself under two different domains and 2 other people, and none of them work. But it works to send it to him!

    Hmmm...

    I am baffled.

    It is usually a good idea to have 'Must send from known domain' set to True/Yes. Other than that the settings are pretty normal and look OK.

    It sounds as though the mail arriving is addressed to a domain email address. i.e. if the site is www.mydomain.com then at an address like [email protected] - a local address, or possibly local to the ISP hosting environment.

    Which means that mail delivery from the site works fine as far as the local mail server, but that the rest of the world wants nothing to do with dodgy and suspicious looking spam. i.e. the domain mail setup or hosting config is incomplete.
    If the mail is bounced, it probably has nowhere to go, as no postmaster or bounce mailboxes have been defined, so it falls into a black hole.

    Possible reasons include - mail server is blacklisted, mail is being sent as apache user 'nobody', hosting co mail server is not listed in the MX records of the domain, no SPF record for the domain, no return path, no reverse DNS etc etc etc.

    and a DNS report is often a good place to start, to verify the basic domain mail setup.

    I switched this to True and now it works. My next journey is to figure out HOW to change the logo from Zen-Cart to mine.

    Friendly Errors: True just means your store will ignore the errors and not display them to your customer. It doesn't mean any email problems are actually fixed.
