My client's products are going to be featured in a popular magazine this fall. She wants to make sure that if there is a sudden surge in orders the shopping cart will be able to handle it.
What do I need to do to make sure I it doesn't crash from all the traffic? Or do I not need to worry about it because Zen Cart can take it?

It's not your Zen Cart you need to worry about, it's your server. You need to make sure that can handle the amount of traffic you anticipate.
