Default Re: Admin Session Time Out In Seconds> Not Working

perhaps i'm not making myself clear, or I'm misunderstanding you, but 10800 seconds should give me 3 hours of admin login time right? I still get 24 minutes because of the master number. Based on the screenshot I posted, I should be getting three hours but I'm not.

So...I don't understand your post? Please advise. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Matt

It is always possible that your hosting site just does not allow you to override these settings ... and perhaps you could ask if they have blocked you from managing your own domain ...

Also do you have any add-ons in your admin?

Have you tried for giggles and grins setting up a clean test directory with a clean database with the demo products of v1.3.8 to test if there is anything in your Live Site causing this?

I have the same problem with admin timeouts as have been discussed by others on this thread. Here is the answer I got from GoDaddy support:

"Thank you for contacting Online Support. Unfortunately the time out on our shared hosting accounts can not be modified. We apologize for any confusion. Please let us know if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns ... ."

Below is a copy of what I sent them and is what GoDaddy support was responding to:

(1)Using the GoDaddy Hosting Control Center, I get the message: "Your session is about to expire. Click 'ok' to extend your online session." The timeout interval is way too short! How do I change it to a longer interval?

(2)Also, there is a related timeout problem with ZenCart installed using GoDaddy's Quick Install, Zen Cart 1.3.8a. Specifically, GoDaddy is controling the "master value" of "session.gc_maxlifetime" and you have it set to an absurdly short 1440. Checking with the Zen Cart user community, I see that many people have had this problem with GoDaddy. GoDaddy is overriding the "local value" set by the Zen Cart administrative panel (ie, 3600). How do I change the "master value" of "session.gc_maxlifetime" to a longer interval (eg, 3600)?

Is this a definitive answer to the admin timeout problem with GoDaddy? Frankly, I'm not sure? However, I can tell you this: It is a major nuisance, especially when you have multiple windows open at the same time (eg., using the GoDaddy file manager in one window and editing the Zencart admin console in another) since they will time out at different times thus doubling the frequency of the interruptions to work flow.

That could be the problem ...

The code can only control what your hosting provider allows to be altered ...
