    Default Follow Up Emails

In my old cart (not as good as zen) I was able to send an email to my customer X days after an order was made to "follow up" with them to see how things were doing and how thing went. This has proven to be very VALUABLE in more ways then one.

Is there an option or MOD for this action?

I don't know that there's a mod, but why can't you simply contact the customer via email to follow up? You can access their email via the customer section of admin.

    Welcome to the Zen-Cart forum,

Interesting suggestion I might add ... perhaps it would be possible to MOD this if the TABLE_ORDERS does contain a purchasing date. Then, from the admin, webmasters could probably be able to set the specific delay day value (ex: 30 for 30 days) and the email would send. Is this what you were looking for to do ?

If so, there's one bad news though. Since this operation would not be done under a cron job, you would need to make sure that 'at least' one customer visits your store everyday. Otherwise, the counter won't tick.

    By no means bragging...

We get about 1500-2000 visitors a day.

We also get about 20 new orders per day so emailing each one individually wont work.

I also think that those numbers will grow now that I have switched over to Zen Cart from my old cart.

The one beloved feature that the old cart had was that follow up email. Customers were blown away by it.

It was a template email that each person would get 15 days post order. That gave me enough time to ship out anything they ordered and let them try it on etc...

Personally I think it would benifit any website, as we had such great sucess with it, and the customers really eat it up. Repeat customers is the key to sucess! That means your cost per conversion eventually goes down, and/or you have more money to spend per conversion since x% of your business is repeat.

This is a feature that I've been trying to get done for months:

    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45545

There is an OScommerce contrib 4518 that is supposed to do exactly this kind of thing. I had someone work on porting the contrib, but the poor fellow got terribly sick and has spent months recovering.

If anyone could port this thing, it would be great. I haven't used it, but it would also be nice if you could filter a bit like follow up based on date range, order value, maybe products, etc...

IMO it is almost important then a mass prodcast. So many customers are really impressed by it, and they feel that its an unexpected surprise that a company would provide such customer service. It really helps them keep coming back.

There are so many websites that sell the same product that I do, and to make a customer feel like they are cared for really helps me retain them as a loyal repeat buyer.

This by far would be a great improvement for anyone's Zen Site.

    Agreed, agreed

Would be cool too if the outgoing note could use tags for such things as name, products ordered
