Default Incremental Pricing Problem - Attributes??

Here goes ... first time posting. Have patience as I try to explain.

All items are free shipping and I know where to put that.

I start out with a basic price on all photos of $20. With that in mind, here are the additional features they may choose.

    5x7 Mounted is +$5 for a total of $25
    5x7 Matted is +$5 for a total of $25
5x7 Mounted and Matted is +$10 for a total of $30
    8x10 Flat is +$10 for a total of $30
    8x10 Mounted is +$15 for a total of $35
    8x10 Matted is +$15 for a total of $35
8x10 Mounted and Matted is +$20 for a total of $40
    11x14 Flat is +$30 for a total of $50
    11x14 Mounted is +$35 for a total of $55
    11x14 Matted is +$40 for a total of $60
11x14 Mounted and Matted is +$45 for a total of $65

I've already entered a couple hundred different pics into the catalog, all with Priced by Attributes and put the Base Price at $20.

I clicked on my catalog and it shows EVERY attribute selected on the radio buttons. I want a drop-down menu with their options (listed above) so they can add that to their cart. Photos are good, have won some minor awards but it shows a price of $250!! Not what I want at all.

Any help available? I've downloaded and printed Linda's instructions (SUPER instructions, just don't understand all the terminology), but being not exactly literate in this, I'm lost. I figure I've got something clicked that shouldn't be or need to click on something that's blank.

I've seen all the posts for discounted items, but that's not what I need. I need to ADD to the price, depending on the size of picture they want and any extras (matting/dry mount, etc.).

    HELP ... What goes where??

    Hi Ryk,

Sorry for the delay. I'd already deleted all my attributes since they didn't seem to work at all. Here's the URL to one I just did up to show you what it's doing. None of the Radio Buttons are clickable.

Well, if those are the only choices, the EASIEST way to do this is to set the base price to 0 and Price by Attributes, and have an option name of "Size & Finish" ( or something like that) and option values of:

    Please select
    5x7 Flat ($20)

    5x7 Mounted ($25)
    5x7 Matted is ($25)
    5x7 Mounted and Matted ($30)
    8x10 Flat ($30)
    8x10 Mounted ($35)
    8x10 Matted ($35 )
    8x10 Mounted and Matted ($40)
    11x14 Flat ($50)
    11x14 Mounted ($55)
    11x14 Matted ($60)
    11x14 Mounted and Matted ($65)

The "Please Select" value ensures the customer makes a choice. This must be set so that both Used For Display Purposes Only and Default Attribute to be Marked Selected are set to yes.

Use a drop down box as it takes less space and looks neater.

The advantages of this is that the customer sees the price and doesn't have to do the calculations...and importantly, only has to make one selection to get get the choice they want as opposed to choosing size, finish and mount.

BTW - before you go much further, think seriously about your image optimisation and either install Image Handler2, or use the ZC structure correctly. If you are selling photos, I would strongly recommend having your large images at about 750 x 550px (but no more than that). As long as the watermark is there and the resolution is no more than 72dpi, then you shouldn't need to worry about people printing them out.

Incidentally - I don't know if you've thought of this, but you could also sell these as downloadable items so people CAN print out their own. In that case, the downloadable file would be of print quality.

Oh my ... no wonder I'm having problems, I'm trying to incorporate TOO many things.

I can hardly wait to get to my computer this weekend to try all this -- am out of town at the moment.

MANY thanks! Will let you know what happens. We've thought about downloads, and will be adding that later on ... once I get this initial pricing to work.

cart error Re: Error Msg w/ Incremental Pricing & Attributes

I'm getting this error msg when I click on one of the attributes in the dropdown menu:

    Please correct the following:
On the Option for: Size & Finish You picked an Invalid Selection: 5x7 Dry Mount & Matted

I have named the Option Name: Size & Finish (Thanks for the suggestion, Ryk!)

I've defined the Option Values to match what I sell in size (i.e. 8x10 Dry Mount or 5x7 Matted, etc.)

This is what I have set up for each of the various Option Values:

Price: + 20.00 (Price differs with other sizes/styles)
    Weight + (blank)
    Order: (blank)
    One Time: (blank)
    Price Factor: (blank)
    Offset: (blank)
    One Time Factor: (blank)
    Offset: (blank)

My Attribute Flags are set at:

Used for Display Purposes Only: YES
Attribute is Free when Product is Free: YES
Default Attribute to be Marked Selected: YES
Apply Discounts Used by Product Special / Sale: YES
Include a Base Price when Priced by Attributes: NO
    Attribute Required for Text: NO

If I click on any of the items in the drop-down menu, it gives me that error message and of course, is not in the shopping cart when I press that button. Is this something I need to set up in the shopping cart linking?

Here's the URL to the page I'm testing this on:

    http://bobbellphotography.com/catalo...products_id=61

Any assistance on what I'm doing wrong will be greatly appreciated!

You need an option value called "Please select" or similar with the above values. All the rest need
