    bug Priced by attribute option

The priced by attribute is not working.

I have two store set up both with the same problem. According to the Zen-Cart book Priced by attributes works like this (on page 168)...

Product priced by attributes set to "NO" will appear as follows...

    Product Price $1000
    256MB
    512MB (+$100)
    1GB (+$200)

Product priced by attributes set to "YES" will appear as follows...

    Product Price starting at $1000
    256MB ($1000)
    512MB ($1100)
    1GB ($1200)

No matter how I set Product priced by attribute it appears as it is set to "NO".

If I change the attribute flag "include in Base Price When Priced by Attribute" (from page 185) it also does not change anything.

I am running version 1.3.7. Since both my stores have some mods I also set up a fresh testbed store with only 1 product basically the example I just mentioned above and it also fails the exact same way.

I am willing to let someone have access to this testbed store to check out my problem.

I have attached a version file from the testbed store.
    Please help!

    Thanks,

Price by Attribute is a often misunderstood feature ...

If a Product cannot be priced *except* utilizing attribute pricing, then Price By Attribute is True ...

In your case, you have a $1000 product ...

If you pick 1 attribute value there is not extra charge so it is $1000

If you pick the next attribute there is an added $100 so it is $1100

If you pick the next attribute then add $200 so it is $1200 ...

This means this product is NOT Priced by Attribute ...

It uses Attributes to build the price differences based on the selection, but the Attributes are not require to produce the display price ...

Turn Off Priced by Attribute ...

Set the Attributes to have the extra price to add, if any ... and now you will get the right price when you add the Product to the Cart ...

If you want each attribute to show the full price ... then you would mark it Priced by Attribute Yes ... but set the Product Price to 0.00

Now set the full price to each Attribute ...

Mark them all as include in base price ...

What this does it take the lowest price of each Option Group and built the display price from that ...

    So using Products Price 0.00
    256k 1000
    512 1100
    1GB 1200

would show the display price as $1000, the lowest possible price ... then when adding to cart would add these correctly at those displayed rates of:
    $1000
    $1100
    $1200

NOTE: do not include the dollar sign in the Attribute Price ... just the value as in 1000 not $1000 ...

Hi, this is doing my head in :-( I have followed your instructions implicitly and set the base price to 0, and have set price by attributes as true. Yet it includes the price of the first attribute (as this is the one that it defaults to of course as the initial price)? I am lost.. any ideas? Running the same version 1.3.7..

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I currently have an OSC store which I'm converting to ZenCart.

The products price (£5.00) is for the base attribute (Small: +0.00).

I then have attributes for larger size and have the price set (£10.00 not +£10.00)

Why can't the code be done so that if I don't put + or - (i.e. leave blank) that the price is set to that and NOT added to the base product price?!?

This would increase the flexibility and allow it to work the way most people seem to expect it to work from looking at the forums!
