baffled by "date available"

hi there!

I've got products I'll want to add to my cart, but that cannot be released until a date and time (noon mountain time) specified by the manufacturer. The only way I can figure to do this is to set up the product and mark it "out of stock" until the time comes and then manually change everything to be "in stock."

Isn't there a way to automate this feature? I couldn't find it in the book or here or on the FAQ. It just says that date available basically just serves the purpose of letting people know when it's available. But my products are "secret" and cannot be released or ordered before the release time.

This could be customized to work based on date and time for the release where you can have the Product all preset for quantity etc. and the date/time can trigger when it becomes active for your customers ...

It would require some custom coding ... but it can be done ...

haha I don't know how to code this stuff. I know just enough to be dangerous and do some tweaking, but not nearly enough to come up with an idea and make it happen. I'm working towards someday looking in the big heavy php book I bought a few months ago. baby steps...

I'm sure I can find someone to do it, though. Thanks for your input. I'll let my client know it's a custom thing we'll need to do.
