I need so much help....

i am very new to websites. i used to have someone do the things that needed doing for me but she went AWOL and so has my site. I have zencart 1.3.7 database patch level 1.3.5I am receiveing a message at the top of my site, which doesn;t look like my site at the moment saying,

Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels

Can any one tell me in plain blonde english what I need to do and how I do it. i am very new to all this and am a complete pc phoebic so please be gentle with me

It seems that your site has been UPGRADED to version 1.3.7 from version 1.3.5, and whoever did this for you has not UPGRADED the database at the same time.

For an inexperienced person, it is not advisable to do the upgrade patching, as doing the incorrect thing can damage the database.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer any service to you in this area, but perhaps others will find this post, and be in a position to assist.

This usually appears when zencart has been installed and then
updated using Fantastico..unfortunately this method does not work
because Fantastico omits to upgrade mysql database...
Do you have copies of your zencart where this message did NOT appear?

I have nothing on my pc at all as someone else did it all for me.They were paid to set it up and get it running but they have since gone AWOL and this is how I am left.

i also cannot get the shipping costs to work. It is not adding anything for shipping.......

Don't worry. We'll hold your hand and get you through this.

If you're willing to give this a go on your own and learn how to maintain your cart yourself, let me suggest that you download ZC 1.3.7 (link in the downloads section - see top of screen) and FTP it to the domain where you have ZC installed. If this sounds like gibberish to you, don't worry. We were all newbies once.

I promise you that you can get there.

I have downloaded zencart and unzipped it. FTP it to the domain where you have ZC installed. ???? How, what, when, where, this I don;t understand

You'll need to get something like Filezilla (google them. it's a free FTP client). FTP (File Transfer Protocol) lets you move files between your domain and your PC.
