I am having alot of problems with broken links (Product Notification) and also an inability to open log-in / checkout / Paypal links when clicked on..
so, I tried to make suggested changes; that I had found on the forum, to the config.php files (2 of them), but when I tried to save them I got the following error.
[a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive].
I have tried making the cahnges through the File Manager on my CPanel X admin and also by copying the text to Notepad, making the changes, and then uploading them back using Filezilla - still get the same error.
Can anyone please help - this is all I need to finish off before I set up my products and finalise shipping etc.

The symptoms you describe suggest problems on your hosting server. You should contact their technical support for assistance.
