H1 Still Appearing after delete?

Hi all,

I've removed the following line completely from my 'tpl_index_default.php' file:

<h1 id="indexDefaultHeading"></h1>

Yet the aforementioned is still appearing on my page!?!?! I have no idea how to get rid of this, and I'm not sure what I'm missing. You can view the live example at http://doyledesigninc.com/contographer/ to see what I mean...

Are you wanting to get rid of the welcome or change the appearance?

I want to get rid of the empty <h1> that is sitting at the top of my page, creating an unnecessary bottom-border (as is set for all H1's). If you view the source on this page http://doyledesigninc.com/contographer, you will notice the issue on the home page. I've REMOVED the <h1></h1> completely from my 'tpl_index_default', but it is still appearing on the home page!!! There must be another place where this exists, and I would like to remove it completely fromt he page.

You have two choices.

1. You could go with the Zen Cart flow by putting "Welcome" as HEADING_TITLE for category_depth = top and remove the version that you have hardcoded into the page
2. You could add #indexDefaultHeading {display:none} to your stylesheet

Hi there

I've been reading up on search engine optimisation.

One suggestion is that Google and other look at teh value of the H1 variable in the home page.

When I do a view source mine is set to "indexDefaultHeading"

Can I change this to my keywords but not display it on the page?

To put an H1 on the page and then hide it, and hope that search engines don't catch on ... will bite you in the end ... because Google pays attention to that sort of thing, and penalizes you.

If you're not going to use it, don't.

Or, better yet, *use* it ... find a creative way to actually use it so that you can gain the benefits that using it brings you.
