    Default Product Form script

    Hi,

I'm very new to Zen Cart and am in the process of customizing my store template. I need to add several large swatch palettes to my product pages.

I would like the palettes to be interactive and can do this outside of zen cart but haven't figured out how I'm going to add the palettes never mind make them interactive on the zen cart product page.

I was wondering if it's possible to take the zen cart product order form and drop it into an html page that I've made and still have it link up to zen cart for checkout.

Any ideas about this would be greatly appreciated. If I can't take the form and add it to my page(s) any ideas on how to add fabric palettes etc to the individual product pages?

Thanks for any help and ideas. I'm kind of going out of my mind

What "interactivity" are you looking for with the swatches?

You can add "color swatches" etc.. to any product page by using the built in "Attributes Manager" in Zen Cart.

When adding a new attribute to a product, near the very bottom you will see a text box with a "Browse" button. If you click "Browse", you will be able to navigate to the individual "color swatch" that is associated with the attribute you are working on.

Update the product (save your settings), and you have a nice product color swatch (or what ever you want) that shows up automatically on the product page.

    Hi,

Thank you for responding to my post. The site is for a handbag designer. Each bag is custom made. The customer has many choices of fabric, handles, buckles, monograms to choose from. There are probably 50 fabric choices. I thought about the radio button attribute with a swatch image next to it but decided there are way too many and it would be a bit chaotic.

I would like to have very small swatches available on the product page (not sure how to put those on). I would like the user to mouse over or click on the small swatches and have the one they click on show up larger with its name on the product page in an area that says "your choices are:" and have the fabric, the handles, the ribbon etc.. in large swatches listed. The user would then finalize their choices in the drop down lists for each attribute (only because I also haven't figured out how to get the javascript rollover/click to change the listing in the dropdown menu (again something I can do outside of cart software).

Sorry for the long reply. Thank you for any help.

The swatches are easily added from within the Admin (under Attributes Manager).

The rest are functions (mouse overs etc..) that are not currently built into Zen, but could be done with some extensive custom programming. But it could be done.

Hi, thank you for the help. I did investigate the attribute image setting and that might do the trick. I'm testing it now and I think I can make it work for the palette.

I did add the module that pops up larger swatches when a user clicks on the small swatch. Very helpful.

The other thing I'm trying to do and have posted a couple of threads for (with no reply) is to create thumbnail rollovers (not popups) for my category images. The category thumbnails are black and white sketches and when the user mouses over them they change to actual color images of the handbags. It's very cool. It would be great to continue to use this in the zen cart category listing. I'm just not sure how to create that simple javascript rollover in zen cart. There is a module for the product page that mouses over thumbnails that then change the larger image (love that too). Same sort of idea. I'm thinking that maybe if I look at that script I could create something similar for the category listing page.

Maybe start with the mod mentioned here and alter it to create the "rollover" effect using either Dynamic HTML, AJAX, or JavaScript. Just some thoughts. You at least have a starting ground for the changes. Although it would still need some good work to get it moving.
