Default Can't configure prices with my products

I have items which have different prices based on the size. I can't figure out how to add attributes and change the price according to the size. I'm adding attributes but it's not doing anything.

All my items have the same price:

    Small - $1.14, Medium - $1.49, then Large - $1.99 - Jumbo - $2.29

How can I set this up, even if I add the item and change prices based on attributes. Then I still have to enter a base price, even though the price changes according to attributes.

Should I create categories for those sizes instead? Then I don't need to add attributes, but it just seems kinda odd to me to set it up this way. I think it would be more user friendly if they see all the items (there's about 20) and just pick the item, pick the size, and checkout.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

When you actually are on the screen which allows you to ADD the individual attribute to a product (this is called the Attributes Controller and is found by going to Catalog > Attributes Controller), there is a section there that allows you to set the price of each individual attribute.

So, let's say you select "Small" as the shirt size on that screen, then BEFORE you click "insert", add a price to whatever box you desire (that of course fits your needs) under the section titled "Prices and Weights".

    You're all set.

Just set a different price for each attribute. Small = $2.00; Large = $4.00 etc...

You may also want to think about setting the product to "Priced By Attributes" from within the Admin as well.

To do that, you would go to:

    Catalog > Categories/Products

and then navigate to the product you want to set this for. Click "Edit" (the "e" icon) as if you were going to edit the product (if it is a new product, you can do this next step while entering the product for the first time) and FINALLY, find the section that is titled:

    Product Priced by Attributes:

    Set that to "Yes".

    Save, and your all set.

    This is what I did

    I went to "categories/products"
clicked the black logo for "A" - attributes
clicked an option name, example: "jumbo"
typed price under "prices and weights", 2.49. There are 2 boxes one with a plus and one that's blank, I typed in the blank box.

Clicked insert and it still says: No Attributes Defined for Product ID#1

I just noticed this error on the main "categories/products" page:

WARNING: You have Products in the Top Level Category. This will cause pricing to not work properly in the Catalog. Products found: 1

I only have 1 type of product. I don't need categories, should I make a category anyway?

I didn't do that admin thing you suggested, but I'll check that out as well.

EDIT: Product Priced by Attributes was already on Yes under edit product.

Do you think it could be since I didn't setup my options correctly?

As the warning said, products in the top level will cause problems. You need to have a category first to put the products in (you will probably need to delete all products so you can create the category.)

Then if you have only one category, there is no point in displaying the categories sidebox; you can turn it off in Tools > Layout Boxes Controller.
In Configuration > Layout Settings, set
Categories - Always Show on Main Page 1
Main Page - Opens with Category 0
Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories 1.

I found out what the problem was, I entered an option name, but didn't enter an option value. I didn't notice that error message I was getting at the top. It's working now.

Now the problem is, that all the options are automatically selected. Even when "Default Attribute
to be Marked Selected:" is set to "no". any suggestions? I have it set as a drop-down box, but it's displaying radio buttons

It sounds like what you did was created totally individual option values and associated them with DIFFERENT option names.

Make sure you only have 1 Option name. Example only 1 "color". Or only "1 size".

The reason you are getting them all selected and as radio buttons is because they are all actually "individual" (different) options (rather than one option NAME with MULTIPLE option VALUES associated to it.)

Sounds like you have multiple option names with multiple option values associated.

So, the reason it shows a radio button instead of the drop down (as you have it marked) is because that is the default behavior of Zen Cart when there is only 1 option value associated to an option name.

If you have it set as drop down, and only associate 1 option value to the option name, then by default, Zen cart changes it to a radio button. If you add more than one value to the option name, it will correctly display as a drop down.
