I have my product price set at $2.29 and then the special price set at $1.14. In the shopping cart it displays, $2.29 scratched out, with 50% off - $1.14. Then when you add to cart, it shows the original price in the shopping cart.

I had to go to "attributes", "product price manager", and where it says, "priced by attributes" change that to "no".
