Using UPS shipping module from Puerto Rico

I am trying to use the ups shipping module to calculate and ship my items, since i will be shipping from Puerto Rico 00952 i am not able to get any info to display only (We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping) If i change my zip code to a US zip "33014" it works fine. can any one tell me how to work around this. I fixed it, i had under shipping/packaging, Country of origin United States.

When i changes it to Puerto Rico it worked. Thank you :clap:

I fixed my issue with UPS, but when i installed USPS and got my USPS account moved over to the production server i cant get any thing to appear with out undoing what i did to get UPS working.

In another words, UPS and USPS will not work together with my fix.

Any ideas? :blush:

Unfortunately there is a problem with US Government agencies such as USPS vs Businesses such as UPS ...

The US Government recognizes Puerto Rico as part of the United States ... this means that the Country is United States and the State is Puerto Rico ... thus, USPS expects to use the information in this manner ...

UPS on the other hand looks at Puerto Rico as the Country ...

While the information is in the database tables to work this way, it cannot work this way at the same time for both UPS and USPS as the customer has to pick their Country ...

Pick Puerto Rico and now UPS works but not USPS ...

Pick United States and the state as Puerto Rico and now USPS works but not UPS ...

If you go to ups.com and attempt to ship from Country United States with Puerto Rico you will see it switch to Country Puerto Rico and ask for specifics ...

If you go to usps.com and attempt to ship from Puerto Rico it will switch to United States and ask for the Zip Code ...

Thank you ajeh, i had to decide who i was going to us (UPS/USPS).
I decided to go with USPS. Hope zen comes up with a fix soon.

We would have to have UPS or USPS re-write how they manage the millions of letters and packages that they deliver every day ...

We cannot help it that USPS wants to follow US Government rules and UPS wants to follow different rules when it comes to who owns who in the zoo ... :cool:

Maybe at some point we will re-write the world to figure out what the geography really means ... but probably not today ... :lamo:

I rally understand your point....

I was under the understaning that there were shipping standards and rukes and that every one would go by them

I would like to see how the Pitneybows system works, uts ships everywhere both USP, and USPS... Thank you

They have a million dollars a quarter budget to figure out how to manage shipping on one package ... as soon as we get there we will let you know ... :lamo:
