How do I move the header bar?

Hello,

I'm fairly new to making websites and Zen Cart. I'm using version 1.37 I think and the Classic tamplate. (Just installed a few days ago)

Can anyone help me with these questions:

1. On the main page I have created catagories with pictures and text underneath the pictures. I can't find where to edit the size of this text in the CSS. Is it somwhere else?

2. How do I move the Header bar with 'home' and 'login in' to underneath my header image/logo. What do I need to cut and paste and where is the file in the directory?

1) You want the Firefox Web Developer extension, which will let you see the class/id and other information associated with any element on the page. When you have that, you can easily find the item to edit in your stylesheet.

You can also view source and look for the class or id just before the element you want to style.


2) In /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_header.php, you will find blocks of code with <!--bof xxxx--> and <!--eof xxxx--> comments around them. You can move any of these blocks around in the file (just not inside another block) to get the order you want.

Thanks for that. I have been able to make some progress. I still have a slight gap between the logo and the title bar. I thought if I made my picture taller it would fix it but remains the same size. Do you know what might be causing this gap?

The problem might be some extra margin on the title bar or navbar. Can't say until I can see it.

Uh ... you know your header image is not showing at all in FireFox and your left and center columns are shifted to the right? Is working okay in IE7.

Yeah, my Friend I'm helping has both firefox and IE and mentioned that to me. It's works fine in IE but not in firefox for some reason...

any ideas?

is there still problems with the boxes in firefox?

You must be in the middle of doing something, because I don't see any header at all right now - just a big white space.

Oops - posted on an old tab... Yes, the sidebar is still shifted to the right about 80px or so from the edge. You also show a 40px or so margin on the right - is that correct?

I don't know where these firfox problems are coming from. I haven't made any major changes that could cause it.

Seems like a 1mm gap is the least of my problems In that case.
