When the user registers and subscribe for newsletter, they can choose between text and html.

I have checked on my own site, and got something like this:

Please remember, this "type" of message is only sent out to customers that set their email reference as TEXT. You can not have html in TEXT email, that's why it looks ugly. Customers who chose TEXT email should expect that the emails they receive look a bit ugly.

You can change your account's email preference to html and get a much nicer email.



I also made a few changes and uploaded Alpha 3.5:
1. Fix the bug when: a customer requested a product, the product got restocked and the message sent to that customer, then the product went out-of-stock again and that customer requests again -> the mod only allows the customer to update the old request, not inserting the new one.
2. Several minor changes in the TEXT email content, added EMAIL_WELCOME
In HTML email, add EMAIL_WELCOME (Replace the hardcoded text)

Alpha 3.5 will be available in Download section soon, you can also use the files on SVN (check the link in the first post of this thread)

also, is there a way to make the HTML the default version for people with no accounts ?

Are you sure you logged in with an account that has HTML email chosen, use that account to place a request, and you still receive TEXT email?

Go to admin->configuration->E-mail options->Email Admin Format?
Change to HTML, see if it works.

And check if you set "Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails" to true
