Editing Featured Products

we were wondering if there is a way to choose which featured products apear on the index page and their order as well as the number of products displayed

i chanded the value of configuration - maximum values -Maximum Display of Featured Products - Main Page from 6 to 15 and that made fifteen products appear the in the featured products section. The problem is everytime the site loads they are placed in a random order. I would like to be able to make sure that everytime the front page of my site loads the same featured products will be placed in the same place everytime.

we would also like to this with the specials.

i have thought about using the define pages editor and editing the define_main_page.php file with html code that would display these itmes. the only issue i have with that is that i have other duty's as far as my company is concened and do not believe that any of my employees know enought about html to change that information out themselves. if that's the way it has to be then so be it but i'm just looking for other potential solutions

I need to increase number of rows of displaying featured products. Now it ll display 3*3 products. I need to display it with 3 columns and 6 rows. how can i achieve this?
