Default Templates do not have sideboxes

The origional template has sideboxes, but if I install any templates, they do not have sideboxes. I'm guessing I missed a step somewhere?

I uploaded to ../includes/templates, went to the cpanel, and changed the template.

Have you turned them on in your admin > tools > Layout Boxes Controller

I had them all set up the way I wanted them for the standard template. So you can customize each template with it's own sidebox layout?

Yes, you can customize the sidebox layout, just play around the css style sheet.

When you install a template you might even see an "error" message in the sideboxes menu page about it. Usually, if you click the Reset button at the bottom of the page, it will restore what you had already set up in terms of sideboxes.

That depends actually - It will set back to the DEFAULT no necessarily your set up. If you install a template and have it all set how you want and then change templates, then you hit reset, it will reset to the original values, not what you had in your changed template. There is a mod for saving YOUR sideboxes as default. It is available in the Downloads area.

I found this quite disconcerting when I first changed my template.
Who stole my side boxes I thought until I read that when you change your template then no side boxes are displayed again until you go to layout boxes controller under the Tools menu and set them up.

Simple really. Bear in mind that if you have to re-install or alter you installation from the zc_install you will possibly be taken back to default template so same applies, you have to activate your chosen template and re-activate side boxes.
