making another store

I after making another store for the other half of my business, i already have a zencart running with 1000's of products and done loads of customising ie templates and layout etc and all the curriences and mods i want have been installed etc.

what i wanting to know, is there a way i can install the same site on another server just change the template to make the site look different, also remove all the products as the new shop will be totally different??

or is it just easyer to do a fresh install and install all the mods again and set up all the taxes etc etc

This really depends upon how much you have added in mods and is the are the type that have sql patches also...

Either way will work and you have to decide how much work each way would be

basically if i could just copy the site i have now but with out the porducts then just change my template then i would be happy.

Backup all your files from your current cart (except for your database because you won't need it) and upload them to your new domain name. Also upload the zc_install folder. Then just run the install with a new database.

Hey presto, you have a ############## store front but with no products added.

Caveat! If there is no DB then in some cases the mods will not function.

Of course, my apologies.

Any mod you have installed that requires a database patch will need to be re-installed.

Of course you could backup your database and install it to your new store, in which case all your installed mods should work ok, but this would mean deleting all your categories, products and customers after the install.

The DB item as I stated is a toss up and really depends upon which ones you use
i.e. If you use the user tracking mod then re-installing will not carry over the history...

But if you are DB savy you can just grab the tables you need
