No images/color visible from local server

Hi!

I know the title is not very good, let me explain you what happened:

I installed Apache with PHP support + MySQL to my SUSE linux. I installed Zen Cart following the Wiki and voila! It (http://localhost) works great on the same machine

However, when I connect to that machine from another machine (say, http://192.168.5.5) in the same network (i.e. connected to the same router) I can only see the content, but NOT the images or colors???

I will very much appreciate your comments. Thank a lot in advance!

PS: I know what you are thinking :) I set the correct file permissions (777 for some folders and 644 for some others etc) still, doesn't work

Hi,

this maybe a problem with your router rather than Zencart.

Your router may not support loop back.

On the machine you are trying to view your store go to ;

windows\system23\drivers\etc\hosts and open in a text editor.

add the ip to your server followed by the URL address of your website.

example

192.168.8.10 www.yourdomain.co.uk
192.168.8.10 yourdomain.co.uk

then save and try again

let me know if this helps or you cannot fine the file i talk about to edit.

How could you get around this problem? I don't use windows, it's the apache server installed on SUSE linux...

in /etc/hosts (of my server machine), I have the following lines:

127.0.0.1 localhost

# special IPv6 addresses
::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes
ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters
ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts

And, again, everything looks perfect in the server machine. The graphs/colors disappear when the web pages are browsed from other machines in the LAN.
