    Default Attributes system question

    Hello,

I'm running a small pizza place, and my products are pizzas of course. I've built the site using zen-cart and using toppings as attributes (checkboxes).
If a customer wants extra toppings he can check the one he wants as toppings are attributes.

But I would like to do the following thing :
-say we have 10 toppings for all pizzas,
-on Margherita we put only three of these toppings

So I would like to see, on the margherita page,

    Margherita

    Bacon 0
    Ground beef 0
    Chicken 0
    Italian sausage 0
    Meat ball 0
    Salami 0
    Spinach 0
    Zucchini 0
    Mozzarella 1
    Tomato sauce 1
    Oregano 1

because Margherita is made of Tomato sauce, Oregano and Mozarella. But I also would like these numbers to be with little arrows next to it so that the customer would be able to completly customize his pizza, adding one portion of Italian sausage, two portions of bacon, and even removing mozarella if he wants.

Is this possible using the attributes system built in zen-cart ? Or is there any mod or plug-in allowing that ? Of course, the price of the pizza would change if you add or remove toppings.
If it is possible, how to ? Will zen-cart manage stocks of attributes ?

    Thanks for your help

    regards

    Hubert

    Not really,

I just want my customers to be able to customize their pizza putting or removing the toppings they want or don't.

If this is possible, please tell me how to ?

Start with your base pizza and add attributes for toppings probably as check boxes that allows more than one to be checked

Ok, that's already done, all my pizzas are with checkbox toppings. The thing I don't know how to do are

    1) How to show checked boxes for toppings already in the pizza.

    2) How to add two portions of a topping if the customer wants, say, more mozza than usual. In this cas, and if it is possible 1) becames "showing 1" in a quantity box.

If youb got the answer of one of these I buy ! :-)

    Thanks for your help

The only way you could add an attribute twice or more without code modifications, ie. double or treble mozza, would be to add more options. There currently isn't any way to show in your attribute list, what attributes are already included in a product unless you select that attribute checkbox as ticked by default.

You could set the attribute "Mozzarella" as checked by default and include another attribute called "Extra Mozzarella" but this would enable the customer to uncheck the box "Mozzarella" which would then cancel out the price of that attribute so your order total would be for just one portion of Mozzarella but the order would actually say "Extra Mozzarella".

The best way to deal with this, in my opinion, would be to state in the product description that the product includes Mozzarella and then have only the attribute "Extra Mozzarella" available for choice.

Of course you could include attributes for "Double Mozzarella" and "Treble Mozzarella" instead of just "Extra Mozzarella".

Since you are not going to have unlimited quantities of any topping on a pizza, you might set up the options as dropdowns instead of checkboxes, with choices of 0, 1, 2, 3 (more if you want), and the default quantity of each topping preselected. You would need one option name for each topping, each with values as desired.

This would give you exactly the functionality you want; whether the appearance will do is up to you.
