Category Meta Tag Descriptions - Whats the point?

I am obviously confused here... I have taken the time to write category custom meta tag descriptions but I dont see where they show up. When I select that category in my store I get random keywords so what is the point of writing them? Do they show up somewhere else? Am I doing something wrong?

I think I maybe confusing the Meta Tag description with the Title... that what I want to change. Still interested in the Meta Tag description shows up.
