Can this be done with Zencart.....

Hello Guys,

I just wondered if something was possible with zencart. In summary leaving the functionality and ease of use there but taking out or disabling the e-commerce (checkout,login) side of things.

Basically i will be having two sites independent of each other. One acting as a official distributor for a product and one selling them. So from the distributor website you point them to purchase from the follwing people (selling website).

Infact, all i need the website is for give loads of product description and also allow them to download softwares/firmwares relating to that product which will be free.

In basic terms a simple site for information and downloads.

Possible? How? Long job, small fix?

No "fix" at all - just flip a switch. There are settings in admin for "showcase only" mode.

Admin > Configuration > My Store > Store Status -
What is your Store Status
0= Normal Store
1= Showcase no prices
2= Showcase with prices

For downloads, I haven't used this, but there is a "Document-General" product type designed for giving information. It would be helpful if someone who uses downloads could post the best way to do those in this case.

The "best possible setup" will depend on what you want to do with them. Before asking for help on this, have you read about setting up attributes (which is how downloads are handled) and downloads in the FAQ?
