Hi,
I've asked this before but got little response.

Is there a way to setup zen cart to store and order as pending in the orders table before the order goes to the payment gateway, then when there is a response the status of it could be updated?

Client of mine is having a problem where the gateway occasionaly does not reach the site and the money goes through but no order is recorded or confirmation emails are received.

Would looking at the cheque/money order code help ?

Are you stating that the gateway can not access the generating site??
If this is the issue check the sites uptime and any possible denial-of-service issues or transfer to a more stable hosting provider.

I am in the process of transfering the site to a more stable providor.

But on occassion it is a possibility that the gateway losses contact with the hosting server.
it happened for a travel agency website we developed and the person booked their holiday only to turn up and find out that the travel agent did not know about it.

Since we redeveloped the site to record the booking as pending in the database until the gateway communicates back with the site and the booking status gets changed.
But the example above is for our own custom system. We would like to know how this could be done similar for zen cart?

You would have to modify the gateway module to record the transaction first as pending before conducting the connection to the gateway and waiting for the response.

What gateway are you using?

we are using a gateway called Realex - www.realexpayments.com

Took a quick look and are you using this as their Use our secure hosted payment page or integrated on your site using SSL ? and do you have a code bit or not? They atate they have sample code and one is gonna have to look at another like linkpoint or authorizenet and build one with their code

Hi,
We are using their hosted secure page.
They provided us with the solution for zen cart.
We don't think it was built 100% correctly! It doesn't follow the normal directory structure of the other gateways - they got us to put a script in the root directory. The script they gave us had some errors I spotted also.

I can send it to you if you like and tell you how it was integrated.
Might be a payment gateway the development team could add on in the next release.
