shipping calculator shows wrong weight

Hi,
my product is set to 0.5lbs
It shows so in the shopping card contens BUT when I click on
estimate shipping the calculator shows: Weight: 3.5lbs
I don´t want my customers to be confused wether the high weight effects their shipping charge.
Has anyone an idea where I can fix that?

Probably tare weight.

Check Configuration:Shipping/Packaging to make sure that your tare weights are the way you want them for small-medium packages and for larger packages. The default for small-medium is 3 lb I believe.
