red flag Can't see template formatting

I posted about this a couple days ago, but have had no responses and I can't find that post, so I will try again.
I can't seem to get any formatting to show up on my store page. I have tried several different templates. I changed some sample text and began setting up categories and am able to see them along the left side as text, but there is no structure, no graphics, no indication of the template I chose. All I have is a blank white page with some text.

I changed the template several times and tried one with very explicit directions on how to install it -- just in case I was doing something wrong. I followed to to the letter, without any success. That even deleted all my categories text and it put my name and address right on the front page, which I did not specify to do.

So I switched back to the template I was working on, but I can't get anything to show up. The url is:
www.store.stitchinthyme.com/cart/.
It is my understanding that I should be seeing the template I have chosen with changes where I have made them thus far. Can anyone please explain how I can fix this? I'm sure it's a great shopping cart if I can ever get it set up.

Make sure you've uploaded all the files and folders of your chosen template
to your includes/templates.
It's saying the stylesheet can't be found:

The requested URL /zen_cart/includes/templates/mistik/css/stylesheet.css was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Yes, it is in the includes/templates folder and it shows on my admin page as the selected template. I installed Comstock as a test because it had such detailed instructions for installing it, but that had the same problem and it even deleted the little bit of text I managed to get up using Mistik. So it is on the server, but it just won't show up. Can you think of any other suggestions?

The template you have installed is looking for its stylesheet, but not finding it.
Either it is loaded in the wrong place, didn't get loaded, or there is something about your server that is preventing it from accessing files properly.

Since you have this problem with different templates, and do not even get the /template_default/ stylesheet which should be the fallback, I would guess it is some server/host-related problem, or perhaps permissions. Others will have to advise what you can do about that, aside from contacting your host.

Also, it might be an .htaccess problem. Try this:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=235
Country Kitty Crafts

I guess I'll have to contact my server, then. TShooters, I read that article a couple days ago and I searched everywhere and couldn't find those .htaccess files to turn them off. I have set my permissions to read/write/execute, also. I guess it's time to check with the server. since they promote zen-cart, they should have things set so it works. I'll write back if they can solve it.

Thanks to both of you.

Some servers/computers hide .htaccess files so the uninformed can't accidentally mess them up.

Actually, as you mention "read/write/execute", if you are on a windows server, I understand they don't allow .htaccess files at all...

Check your includes/configure.php file and make sure its configured properly.

Although your store is located at:
http://www.store.stitchinthyme.com/cart/

Your Zen Cart base url is:
http://www.store.stitchinthyme.com/zen_cart/

Notice there is a mismatch between the 2 URLs.

Zen Cart is looking for the stylesheet from
http://www.store.stitchinthyme.com/zen_cart/includes/templates/mistik/css/stylesheet.css

Canopy,THANK YOU
I found the line
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/zen-cart/');

I deleted the zen-, saved uploaded, refreshed the page and I have the template. Oh, what a frustration this has been! Maybe now I can get down to really setting things up.
