How to add an image to a subcategory

Hi,

I've racked my brains on this one, how do you add an image to a subcategory item instead of using text such as "|_" i want to replace this with an image.

Replace them with an <img src="relative/path/to/MY_IMAGE.gif" alt="" /> in the Admin> Configuration> Layout Settings

Do you mean on the menu tree for the category listings? If so you can find some modules in the download section that will help with that.
