    Default SSL Certificates & Authorize.net

I need something explained to me please. I have signed up with authorize.net. Should I still purchase a SSL certificate from my host?

    Thank you for the help.

You should have an SSL certificate. It is normally not necessary to get it from your host - you can shop around a find a good deal elsewhere, probably.

I'm not sure if authorize.net requires you to have an SSL certificate, but from this thread:

    it appears that they do.

Regardless, when your potential customers get to the point of having to enter their personal data, many (if not most) of them will look for the little lock icon. If it's not there, they may choose not to buy.

Alternatively, if your host provides a shared SSL, you could use that instead. (Which may be free.)
