Mysterious Missing Attributes

Ever since upgrading our cart we have a bizarre inconsistency with attributes. If I do a fake order, there is no problem, I can add attribues all day long. So can many other customers... but some when they choose a "Saying" attributes for an item, it doesn't come through into the order admin.

I thought this was maybe because during some confusion in the original setup there were multiple values added (like 5 Saying values of "happiness") but even after deleting the extras it continues to happen.

There are SO many of these products with SO many Saying attributes (some with as many as 35 to choose from) that to just delete the whole value and start from scratch would be a nightmare.

I've tried to find a pattern, tried different browsers... can't figure out why it would only happen sometimes and why only on the Sayings option name (so far...), and even if I take the 8 hours it will take to reassign them all, there's not guarantee it won't happen again or start happening to the other Option Names if I don't know what did it in the first place...

Any thoughts or ideas on this appreciated!

Pretty much as soon as I said outloud it was only "saying" being effected everything started to go south..

What happens if you turn off the SEO URLs?

Hm... I don't know. I hate to do that because this retailer is thoroughly spidered using them on the various engines. If I could actually break it myself I could turn them off, test, and know if that worked in 5 minutes, but since I can't replicate it...

THANK YOU for the idea though, we'll start trying to approach it as if that could be it and see if anything was missed on install of the SEO URLs. Any other ideas let me know!

Did an order ...

Attributes on screen appeared in my shopping_cart, checkout, email and account history ... seems to be working for me ...

That is the biggest problem. Works fine for me too.. but every other day she gets an order without the attributes and we can't find the common link between them. We're tearing apart the SEO URLs now as we speak (type...). If we discover the issue I'll post it so someone else can not tear their hair out in the future!

Just for the record -- we went over the SEO URL install line by line and everything seems correctly installed so I don't know that that is our problem... having her ask her clients what browser they are in now to see if we can find SOME common pattern.

We can reproduce the error now!

If you add and item like this one:

and then CHANGE THE QUANTITY in the cart - the options chosen are erased. Which explains why some people were fine and some had issues.

Now... how to fix that...
