    Default Problem with shipping table

I have a problem with the shipping table. I put the settings as 2:10.00,50:5.00,10000:3.00 based on weight as here in India it's about $10 for the first kilo (though the unit up there is pounds) then somewhat less for additional kilos.

I made a mock order for a few items in my store which came up to 6 lbs but the table rate calculator came with this result for shipping cost as follows:
    Table Rate (1 x 9.00lbs)
    $5.00Best Way

What am I doing wrong here?

    You said ...

    2:10.00,50:5.00,10000:3.00

up to 2 make it 10 ... up to 50 make it 5 ... so 6 is in the up to 50 price ...

Thats how it works??? It doesn't really sound that way from the instructions:

"The shipping cost is based on the total cost or weight of items or count of the items. Example: 25:8.50,50:5.50,etc.. Up to 25 charge 8.50, from there to 50 charge 5.50, etc"

Anyways, how would I make it say, that anything up to 2 pounds is $10, than every additional pound is $2.50, but it's over like 200 pounds we send it by container and its like $0.50 per pound? I asked about this before and I was told it can be done using the table chart.

You'd write your own shipping module as this is not how the table nor zone shipping modules are designed ...

It might be easier to clone Per Item item of Flat Rate flat Shipping module and customize it to look at the weight for the first 2 lbs and then start charging per additional pound ...

If I write my own shipping module, how do I add it to the list of shipping methods?

This is my problem......the flat rate module is only one price for all orders. How do you make it calculate the extra $ per pound? Can you use two different shipping modules at one time? If so, how does the program know which shipping module applies first?

Example: I have some oversized items that have additional shipping charges. So if I use a table for all items, how do I add additional charges for the large items? And how do I mark each item for the additional charge?

    Thanks for your help!

NOTE: there is also a Tare rate in the Shipping/Packaging which adds 3lbs by default to the weight of the order ...
