free downloads

I have 3 products that are free and the costumer has to go through the setting up an acount so I can keep track of what is being downloaded.

After the customer goes throught the check out I have to approve the downloads is there away I can set the free downloads approved automatic after the customer goes through the check out instead of them waiting on me to approve it sorry for ramblin I am just tring to make things clear

Depends on the Payment Module ...

Zen Cart Free Charger freecharger can be set to Orders Status Delivered (orders_status 3) which makes it immediately available ...

On the other Payment Modules you can do the same but be aware that this means all downloads are available when orders_status is set to <= 2 or >= 4 ... so you may or may not want this on Check/Money Order moneyorder and the like ...

NOTE: downloads when setup properly do not track on stock ...

If your's do track right now then you have set them up as:

Always Free Shipping or Virtual Product and Downloads are never either one of these and can affect shipping charges adversely when you do this ...

Downloads know they are Free Shipping by virtue of the download filename on the Attribute ...

the downloads are set up properly I didnt mean track them. So if I use the zen cart free charger set to Orders Status Delivered (orders_status 3). I have other products will this affect these products and make them free to my other payment modules are paypal and google checkout I dont want these to be affected

Ok I just tested the module and well I can answer my own question and no it does not affect the other payment modules

ok when I go to orders it still shows processing but I guess this doesn't really matter thanks

The Orders Status is set by the Payment Module ...

If the Free Download is part of an order then it uses the orders_status setting for that Payment Modules ...

You don't want your other payment modules to read Delivered if they are not ...

But even when set to Processed for PayPal the Download is immediately available ...
