    Default Customer Image Uploads ?

I am wondering if it is possible to configure an attribute that allows the customer to up load an image ?

The background is that I webmaster a site the does custom tile murals, for reference the site is Wylde Art http://www.wyldeart.com

Currently all of the orders are made by sending an email, I am thinking that most potential customers do not want to go through this process, and that adding a shopping cart will improve sales.

One of the services Wylde Art offers is to create a mural from an image supplied by the customer, for example kids photos as fridge magnets. Obviously in order to offer this via a shopping cart the customer needs to be able to send us the image.

I have considered adding an external package like CopperMine or Gallery, however it really should be part of the ordering process workflow.

I purchased the ZenCart manual but it does not seem to offer any help.

The ideal solution will be to allow the customer to upload an image, and potentially also enter some custom text, or treatment instructions as part of the ordering process.

Is it possible to do this with stock ZenCart using attributes ? If not is it possible to do this with a Mod ?

Any help, even if it is telling me that what I want simply cannot be done, will be appreciated

    thanks in advance

I have a upload option I use for my customers to upload pictures.
I use Coffeecup form builder it has a upload function in one of it's forms.
I have had good luck with this program and it supports all email functions that Zen Cart offers. I made Thank you pages to go along with it so your customer never leaves the site.
You can test it at http://www.atcakes.com

Add an Option Name, such as UPLOAD ... with the Option Type of: File

Then add the Attribute to the Product using the:
    Option Name: UPLOAD
Option Value: TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ATTRIBUTES ONLY]

The files will appear in the directory:
    /images/uploads

And be numbered ... these numbers are NOT the orders_id they are the number of the Upload as they happen ...

This will correspond to the number in the Order that says the actual filename that the customer loaded to you ...

This option is great and works well for ONE image. I have a photo lab here and would like to offer my customers the option to upload hundreds of image in one shot for print proof orders. If anyone is interested in helping out it would be wonderful. I have been searching forever for someone to help out with this custom request.

Your best bet is to have your customer zip the files before they upload.
Doing that you will know which files go with the customer

I like to keep it simple and agree with the zip idea we do. or create multiple option names as we did for things like business cards - front image and back image

This would be great for my application if there was a mechanism in place to automatically zip up for you. With the clients I have (Pro Wedding Photographers)... if it's not simple they go somewhere else. Believe it or not 90% of them REFUSE to resize their images prior to uploading. Most Pro labs have this in place so I am trying to come up with a solution for me.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

I think for your situation, which requires more than the 'one small file upload' you are right to think about some external solution. I do that on my site, the file upload is on a sidebar section and I refer the customers there. As such, it is not part of the in-line order form, but is, I hope sufficiently referenced in that form. I don't think it is that customers REFUSE to resize their image, I think they just don't know how. I am constantly amazed at the things customers say, like, "how do I order the product" when they are on the ordering page. And how many customers still don't know how to scroll down the page. Which, is simply all challenges for us to overcome if we want their business. BTW, the wyldeart site crashes my Firefox when I try to open it. Have to use Netscape or IE.
    Good luck!
