Default Query: Steps in securing your Zen Cart ???

    Hi,

I have faithfully followed point 1 and 2 in "Steps in securing your Zen Cart Store"

I have run into two problems:
1: I can't find the /zc_install folder on the server

2: I have renamed my admin folder on the remote server and the three references to "admin" in the admin/includes/configure.php file.

I type in the new url for "admin" but it looks for an /admin/login.php page...

THis is the error message I get: The requested URL /store/admin/login.php was not found on this server.

This is the latest version of Zen Cart, is the Wiki version of the security document out of date?

    Regards
    Alf

    1. If the zc_install folder was already removed, then ... there's nothing to delete.

    2. The wiki document is up to date.
When you edited your admin configure.php file, where did you upload it to?
Did you mark the existing file as read-write before uploading?
If the file was read-only, then the upload would fail and you'd be stuck with the old settings in the file.
Be sure to reset the permissions back to what they were after you've successfully uploaded the file.

Good to hear from you again, DrByte,

    I apologise to the wiki!

Setting the permissions worked. I have set them using Dreamweaver to 600: "Owner: read write" not execute, yet...

my server has a "www" and "public_html" folder, which seems to duplicate what is in the other...

Is this the "Two" configure.php files mentioned in step 3?

    Cheers and thankyou...

A typical "cPanel" hosting account has a "public_html" folder, and a "symlink" named "www" which points to the "public_html" folder ... which means you can use either path to get to the very same files.

Two files as described in the wiki:
    ...public_html/includes/configure.php
    ...public_html/admin/includes/configure.php
