    Default E-mails not working

    Hi,

    I have been informed by mate that his email isn't working in zen cart. He is unable to send out emails for newsletters etc..

    When her tries this is what he gets:

    1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':admin_id' at line 1
    in:
    [select 'ADMIN' as customers_firstname, admin_name as customers_lastname, admin_email as customers_email_address from zen_admin where admin_id = $SESSION:admin_id ]
    If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
    Short of having to reinstall zen cart, which isn't going to be easy due to all the add ons and customizing done, is there anything I can do??

    Sounds like he's installed an outdated addon or has done an incomplete site upgrade.

    Check that his /includes/functions/audience.php file is up to date with his Zen Cart version.

    I get a 403 when trying to view it from a broswer.

    Just spoke ti him, he said he thinks he did a database update a while ago.

    Has the site been moved to a new server recently, or the server software updated/changed?
    This sounds like a sessions problem on the server, or out of date cached data. Could also be a very old Mysql version, but thats unlikely.

    Check Admin-Tools-Server/Version info for the installed versions, and scroll down to the 'sessions' section for sessions settings.
    You could also disable any caching in the configure.php files to see if that helps.

    this is what it says in the server/ version for sessions:

    session
    Session Support enabled
    Registered save handlers files user

    Server moves/updates/changes?
    Zen Cart, PHP, MySql versions?

    No server changes/ updates or moves.
    ZenCart 1.3.0.1
    PHP 4.4.7
    MySql 5.0.24a

    The query you mentioned in your first post didn't exist until v1.3.0.2.
    If you're using v1.3.0.1, then I'm not surprised that you're getting errors.
    Also keep in mind that a LOT of bugs have been fixed since v1.3.0.1 ... it's worth upgrading ...

    All taken in, Thanks DrByte, I'm going to do a upgrade and sort it out that way... Probably the best thing to do.
