    Enter CanadaPost Server Port
    30000

    Enter Selected Language-optional
    en

    Enter Your CanadaPost Customer ID
    CPC_xxxx
    Enter Turn Around Time(optional)
    0

    Tax Class
    --none--

    Tax Basis
    Shipping

    Shipping Zone
    --none--

    Use CP Handling Charge System
    True

    Handling Charge per box
    0

    Sort Order
    0

You said:I do have an account and the guy I spoke to said there is only one server now, there isn't a "test server" or "production server" anymore, only one server. Is he wrong?
No, he is likely right, it has been a few years since I have set it up so I may be out of date on that score. I do remember there were some changes a few years ago.

You have your boxes and services set up correctly I assume?

If you want to test that everything is set up right with Canada post, you can pm me your CP_XXXX (no password required) and I will test it on my site. At least you will be able to eliminate the Canada Post set up if it works. I have mine working perfectly, so if it works for me then it will be your host, or the way your website is set up, if it doesn't work then it is Canada Post, or the way you have your Canada post settings set up.

I am still (6 months later) working on my site, so it is not public and I will be the only one to see the results. If it doesn't work then I can give you my test web site and you can try changing your Canada Post site settings until you get a valid Canada Post shipping quote. I have a lot of stock set up already with weight and dimentions.

    Just an offer,
    Pat

Try editing your CP module in Zen Cart admin, and replace sellonline.canadapost.ca with 66.110.6.131 temporarily.
What happens if you test that way?
I suspect you'll see no change, and in that case, it would seem that there's still a firewall blockage.

    Hello,

I have checked all my settings and they match the ones above.

I also tried entering the IP and nothing different happened.

I will PM my CPC to you pdprenty so you can try also.

    thanks!

Also, I disabled my McAfee firewall, windows firewall isn't on, and I disconnected my router and plugged directly into the Rogers modem and still got the same error message...

I am not really up on IP's servers or hosts. Mine is great and when I have an error message about the server I let them know and they just fix their server or tell me how to fix my settings. I have even had them change my site settings once to get rid of an error I was getting that was my fault.

Anyway.... back to the subject. I tested emmasheart's CP account and I am getting accurate shipping quotes.

    That means it is either:

An problem with your host/server or,

A problem with the way that your site is set up.

Since you have matched your shipping module settings to the same as mine, it will not be that, but it is possible that one of your Canada Post module files got corrupted when you ftp'd them or they are not set up right.

I would try reloading the module file includes/modules/shipping/canadapost.php again and see if that fixes it.

Sometimes the error message will give you a clue. Also do a search on this forum using the error message. Many many people on this forum have had problems with modules because of settings or files. 8 times out of 10 I can find the problem from doing a search for the error message. The other 2 times, it is from really thinking about what the message says. The error messages are quite descriptive.

Those are all related to your home internet connection.

The "110 Connection Time Out" error is coming from your webserver ... the server at your hosting company where your online store is running. The problem is with the server's configuration. Only your hosting company can fix it.

    Hi,

I checked with Canada Post again and they said they did receive a request from pdprenty's store so my account works, but they got no requests from my store so they also suggested that it is my provider. I had emailed them and they still claim that 30000 is open. I'm going to repost in the forum and see if anyone else is using my provider successfully...

    Thanks,
    Craig

Well, I finally got a TRUE answer from my provider:

    Hello Craig,

We could not allow the port 30000 in the server to use. For security reason, we only allow essential ports for services like ftp, mail. If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

    Thanks

Unbelieveable - I have email after email from them telling me 30000 was open and now this...

Time to change to a new server! Thanks everyone for your help!!!!

Now that we are looking for a new webhost, how can we be sure that they will allow port 30000 to be open before we sign up?
Ideally we want a webhost that offers a free package with purchase of domain name (or transfer fee as we already have a domain name)
Or suggestions on providers others are already using would be so appreciated.

At the top of this page is a link named "hosting", where a number of hosting partners are listed. Most of these are willing to open the port you need. Just ask them before you sign up ! They're all pretty friendly.
