Zen Cart or Cre ?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I am torn between Zen and Cre .. and would love to hear from people here with more experience than me on why they picked Zen (if they had been considering Cre)

Free vs Paid is not to be considered, so forget the fact Cre is a paid for product, what makes Zen better ? ..

I looked at CRE, osCommerce and Zen Cart (and others) 15 months ago when deciding which Open Source package to go with for my clients. Zen Cart was architecturally way ahead of the others, making it much easier to work with and produce designs for.

15 months on, Zen Cart continues to move forward - while the other two are still producing bloated, tables-based layouts that don't validate against the W3 standards.

I'd have to echo what Kuroi said, as my path to Zen Cart was virtually identical, and I agree with all his reasons. After installing and playing with half a dozen or more possible candidates, Zen Cart certainly stood out as the one to choose.

Having been in computer support and admin since just before the abacus, the general 'tone' and quality of the ZC support forums was also a major factor in my decision.

cre is actually just a loaded version of OSC, nothing more, and OSC code base hasnt changed in almost 4 years, the same security issues, the same lame code,
the same crap tables, the same egomaniac of a developer.
