Delete the feed file and let the script create it.

red flag Re: Windows Live Product Search Contribution Support Thread

    Hi Jeff

Thanks for your help. After deleting the lps.xml feed file, the script then did create a new one itself. However, when I clicked to view my product feed file before proceeding to step 2, I received this error:
XML Parsing Error: no element found
    Location: http://www.dealbyethan.com/feed/lps.xml
    Line Number 13087, Column 9:</Offer>
    --------^

Also, when I clicked to upload product feed to Live Product Search, I received this error:
    Feed file - /home/dealbyet/public_html/feed/lps.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
    Upload started...
    Connection failed: ftp.productupload.live.com
Warning: ftp_connect() [function.ftp-connect]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known
    Upload failed...

Clicking to view Live Product Search FTP content resulted in this message:
    Live Product Search FTP content:
    Connected to: ftp.productupload.live.com
    Connection failed: ftp.productupload.live.com

Is something wrong with my installation? Please advise. Thank you.

Nothing is wrong. Your script is timing out before completing. Also, the issue with not being able to use FTP functions seems to be related to hosting and non-dedicated ip's.

This costs about $2 a month...

    Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for your explanation.

When you said my script is timing out before completing, what should I do with this problem?

What should I tell my hosting company about the issue with not being able to use FTP functions? Who do I pay the $2 per month to?

Your host would offer dedicated IP's as an upgrade on your current package.

You can increase the timeout length in php.ini as well as the Zen Cart admin as described earlier in this thread and also in the Google Base Feeder support thread (I believe it also states in the GBF readme.txt as well).

Another thing you can do is set the start and stop to a set amount of products. You seem to be getting around 3000 products in your feed so anywhere around that number would probably work. Then run it again at 3001. Use max_products to set the end.

I get the Live error 2 out of 3 times - the Goolge uploads all of the time, you just have to keep retrying Live and it will go through or FTP it.

    Live Product Search Feeder v.1.0.1 09.08.2007 13:54 started 2007/12/12 11:13:04
    Feed file - /home/stakemil/public_html/store/feed/lps.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
    Upload started...
    Upload Failed
Connected to: ftp.productupload.live.comLogin ok:Current Directory Is: /Warning: ftp_put(): Transfer complete but post processing FAILED. 1347520 bytes transferred. 1347520 bps.

    Upload failed...

I see Live.com has been updated -- if you FTP then you have to FTP everytime or vice versa
Changes to the upload method for all catalogs: When you create a new catalog, the upload method that you select for that catalog, either HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol. A protocol used to transmit files over the Web.) or FTP (File Transfer Protocol. A fast, high bandwidth method of communicating between two computers.) , can't be changed. When you update a catalog, you must use the same upload method that you used when you first uploaded the catalog. If you have existing catalogs in Product Upload Beta, the last upload method that was used to upload each catalog will be set as the permanent upload method for it.

I took your advice to make all the recommended changes. But I still couldn't get it to work. I did step 1 and the message is:
    Feed file - /home/dealbyet/public_html/feed/lps.xml
Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No

When I view my product feed file in Firefox at http://www.dealbyethan.com/feed/lps.xml, I received this:
XML Parsing Error: no element found
    Location: http://www.dealbyethan.com/feed/lps.xml
    Line Number 13087, Column 9:</Offer>
    --------^

whereas in IE7, it seems to work but at the end of the page, I have this:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Also, step 2 gave me this message:
    Feed file - /home/dealbyet/public_html/feed/lps.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
    Upload started...
    Connection failed: ftp.productupload.live.com
Warning: ftp_connect() [function.ftp-connect]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known
    Upload failed...

I then signed in to productupload.live.com. I created a new catalog with the following details.

File type: product search XML (.xml)
    Delimiter: left this unselected

Choose file upload method: through browser

I uploaded lps.xml through browser but I get this message:
Catalog rejected: Not in the expected XML format.
Correct the format, and then try your upload again.

Can anyone who got it working please help? I have been testing this for a long time with no luck still. Thanks in advance.

If you try the latest version on the Numinix site, you may find that it will solve problems for sites with a larger number of products.

Your feed is timing out and not closing the tags at the end of the file. I know you aren't using the latest version because I have removed image handler and your post shows an image created by image handler...
