red flag Admin login error, Help! "MySQL Server has gone away"

Hi there the version I'm set up on is the latest. The cart was set up roughly 6 weeks ago.

    Help, here's the problem:

A friend set up Zen Cart for me a month or so ago, everything was working fine. I got back from 3 weeks vacation, during which no one did anything to the site...and when I try to login to the admin area I get the following error message:

2006 MySQL server has gone away
    in:
    [select * from coupon_gv_queue where release_flag='N']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
2006 MySQL server has gone away
    in:
[select count(*) as total from sessions where sesskey = 'e70a51d86f6d0fa70286c4d3269bd10c']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

I even got a resent password which leads to the same error. Any help on how I can regain access. I have an email in to my friend who set it up but am getting no response and need to get back in to the site....arghh!

    Thanks,
    JT

"Server has gone away" indicates that the MySQL server connection was opened but was unexpectedly closed before the Zen Cart script had finished processing.

You'll need to talk to the hosting company who runs your server in order to determine why that is happening.

You should also consult your webserver's errorlogs to see if there are any details showing there (however, MySQL errors don't usually show there). You can usually find the server errorlog information in your hosting company account's control panel.

Thanks, being a neophyte this really helps. I'll give them a holler and find out if this is it.
