Checkout first, then shipping charges to be confirmed later

OK, I have products of many sizes and weights which I intend to sell nationwide in my country. This will affect the price for what zone to delivery and what weight it carries.

Can the checking out system works with only selling prices without shipping charges, which will be confirmed by the seller to the customer after they made their order (for example via email afterwards).

I need a system that tells the buyer, "the order has been accepted and you will be notified the final payment due after we have calculated the shipping and handling of the items"

Hello Kim, here's an example of what I have in mind about this issue..

1. Buyer checked out with 4 items with a total price of 50.00
2. Buyer confirmed on shipping address and payment method
3. Buyer will be notified by the system saying that his order has been accepted, and buyer will be contacted on how much he needs to pay on top of that 50.00 for shipping and handling via email/phone etc.
4. At this point, buyer needs to wait for seller's info to finalised the total amount payable before the item can be packed and shipped.

This has been discussed before - make all of your products free shipping, use the COD module for payment and change the wording to read "Contact me for billing and shipping totals" or something to that effect.

This system works brilliantly, but is there a way to add the shipping cost to the order on the system after the order has been received?

This would keep the admin side up to date, allow a correct invoice to print for the customer, and might even send them an email like it does when you change the status to pending?

There's gotta be a way?

Order editing is not part of the core code at this time. We will be looking at it for a future release. There are some orders mods in the download/ Free Ad Ons section, but I can not vouch for any of them.
