Setting up a new template

Hi All
Sorry for this question about the template as I am more of a programmer and though I have worked with basic template system, I feel there is yet to discover more as to how it works with Zen cart

What I want is
Set up a new template so I can safely customize the site's look & feel.

I can see there is a tutorial on the template overrides here

But is it possible to set up a template so that I can change the look/feel of the site/pages

YES - use the tutorial and you can apply the principals to any and all the templates.

What about I had this site which I migrated, had a template
Now, I want my new cart(zen cart) to look same
What would be the steps?
